Beauty // Liquid Lipstick Love

So I’ve been wanting to swatch and share my two most recent Jeffree Star liquid lipsticks for some time but I never really got round to it until last week. I’ll be honest, this post started out as Androgyny and Hoe Hoe Hoe swatching session but then thought I would compare the colours to the other matte liquid lipsticks I have, then remembered I also had my friend Karin’s Lime Crime Wicked so added that on to my arm for comparison… next thing I knew I had six beautiful red liquid lipstick swatches on my forearm

Then the camera wouldn’t work. Shit.

I got there in the end, apparently the battery was flat and apparently I stress about things too much.

Lo and behold… six beautiful red matte liquid lipsticks

My love for Celebrity Skin is still alive and well, It’s a colour I love to wear daily and have mixed with both Unicorn Blood and Androgyny to create daily lip colours out of them. I can tell that come the new year I will definitely need a repurchase of it!

I really like Androgyny, and wanted it so bad to be my perfect lip colour, but I find it quite dark on my lips. If Jeffree Star could make a Doll Parts + Celebrity Skin + Androgyny baby that would be amazing. Kthnxbai.

Hoe Hoe Hoe is my favourite red at the moment. I wore it in the above picture to an outdoor picnic and got plenty of compliments on it. The subtle glitter in it is hard to capture or see in real life but comes through after a bit of wear.

L.A. Girl in Frisky is a colour I bought when trying to find the perfect red shade for my lips. I really like this colour on my lips, here on my arm contrasting against Hoe Hoe Hoe and Unicorn Blood it looks quite shocking but it is quite a nice red when on me.

I have to be honest, Unicorn Blood hasn’t really grown on me since I first reviewed it. I’m not a big dark lip person so that probably explains why, but I find it too dark for daily wear and too dark for formal wear. I’m sure that it will

As mentioned above, Wicked, is a colour I borrowed specifically to compare to Unicorn Blood from my friend Karin. I’ve not worn it before personally, but I have a feeling I would feel much the same about it as I do Unicorn Blood because, well, they’re so similar!

Guys what am I doing? Two colours. One pair of lips.

So I’ve gotten to the bottom of this post and realised that there’s no real purpose to it apart from wanting to share with you my liquid lipstick collection and how I feel about them.  In saying that, I’d love to know your thoughts about liquid lipsticks, matte or otherwise… what are your favourite brands? Have you tried Jeffree Star’s ones before? What else is out there? What’s your favourite colour etc. Tell me!

Home // Freedom’s Summer Favourites #stylebyfreedom

Summer is definitely on it’s way, and I’ve been falling in love with homewares so much this year – even more so than last year. I think since moving into our current rental I’ve realised what it’s like to have a lot of space but also have started to invest in homewares for longer than a season, and really thinking about the overall looking and feel of what I want, rather than falling in love individual products.  That being said Freedom have four great ranges coming out this summer and all of them are calling my name.

I was asked to look over this years summer ranges so I popped in store and snapped a few of my favourites and also grabbed a few things. The perfect Christmas table setting #stylebyfreedom

Above: The perfect table setting, amiright? I love the textures and colours – plus that pohutukawa plant is just perfect.

What did I grab?
As I’m looking forward to summer I thought why not splurge on a beautiful summer jug and some glasses for cocktails? It’s cocktail season after all. Last ime I was in Freedom I grabbed two of these mugs which I just adore so I grabbed a couple more as well to create more of a set – and so I can finally get rid of some old ugly mugs from when I first went flatting!

Yay for beautiful homewares!

Christmas Time // Last Minute Christmas Gifts

Last Minute Gift Ideas

Christmas

Are you freaking out yet? Christmas is nearly here, and I’m here to save your butt with last minute gift ideas for those people you may have forgotten!

1 // Wine
Wine is great (A few of my favourites are Mission Estate Fete, The Sisters Wine Sauv and VNO Rose) and can provide the perfect gift for the wine connoisseur friend, that hard to buy for person or simply a back up gift for the cupboard, in case someone shows up announced bearing gifts!

2 // ‘All Your’s tee from the SPCA
Feel great when you’re giving this SPCA tee to your resident cat lover *ahem* me *cough*, this tee is a limited edition print from one of my fave artists and fellow nzblogger, Evie Kemp. Evie says “I wanted to create something a bit spooky, but gorgeous which reinforces the idea that every pet is special. I like to believe that we need our pets as much as they might need us” about the design.

3 // Gift of Beauty
My friend Lena Talks Beauty spoke about giving the gift of beauty this Christmas and I couldn’t agree more. There are plenty of beauty gifts packs around at the moment, I’ve got my eye on Murad’s Beautiful Firm Skin Kit which you can grab from Caci Clinic’s nationwide.

4 // Toys and Gadgets
Who doesn’t love a good toy? Remote controlled helicopters and cars are a great stocking stuffer idea. Perfect for the kids or the kid inside you – and are priced really well considering.

5 // Instant photos
Instax have a great thing going, reviving the polaroid and making memories last! I have been DYING to get my hands on an Instax for ages. Whenever my friend Lizzy brings her one out I get so excited! What colour Instax would you get?

6 // Watermelon Pool floater
One of your mates have a pool? Or perhaps that Auntie you rarely see – brighten up their pool with this amazing pool floater, and while your giving it why not invite yourself to make sure it works? These floats also come as Tucans, Swans, Whales and Flamingos!

7 // Platter up!
If you’re really stuck for ideas – why not plan out an amazing picnic basket or platter to give to someone? Recently In Rhi’s Pantry did an amazing post about the perfect summer platter and I would be lying if I said I wouldn’t want all of this gifted to me. Yummo!

8 // Candles
These are easy gifts, and can be really special too. Just be careful you don’t give a candle to someone who hates them / gets them all the time. If you aren’t willing to buy one (this would be buy pick if you were though) why not try and DIY some for Christmas? Madicattt has an amazing DIY tutorial.

Good Eats // Lime and Jalapeno Guacamole with Nairn’s

003nairns

Summer is coming and that means summer snacks! Guacamole is probably my No. 1 snack this summer, I’ve already enjoyed it a few times with avocados being in season at the moment.

Nairn’s oatcakes and biscuits are a great alternative to crackers, wheat free, are full of complex carbohydrates, high in fibre, both soluble and insoluble fibre and a source of key nutrients.

I’m sharing with you today a easy and delicious Guacamole recipe. It’s close to a traditional guac, but has a kick.

My favourite is the Scottish Oatcakes and Dark Chocolate Chip Oat Biscuits – which are great in baking and use as a cheesecake base FYI. Check out some more recipes using Nairn’s oatcakes

I’ve been friends with Alexia for such a long time! So last week with the weather being beautiful and the seasons changing, It was only natural to head along to Kmart for a date with Alexia.

Alexia is a women’s clothing range at Kmart. It’s a staple line and caters for sizes 18 to 26. After hearing that the design team at Kmart had really put a bunch of focus on the range coming into the summer season I knew I had to check it out and get myself some staples for summer.

I’ve been tossing up the idea of doing a few prints for the blog for some time now, and since I’ve had a little bit of free time recently I finally had the chance to make one!  Hannah from A Lovely Look has some great printables for download, and she originally inspired me.

I’ve made for you all a A4 size summer printable that you can download, print, frame (or not) and enjoy!
